“Osaka Kaleidoscope” is a dreamlike walk through Osaka tinted with imaginary visions. A fictional text with over 60 colour photographs and elaborate compositions, this book offers an original perspective of one of the biggest and most endearing cities in Japan. The reader travels through time and space; the poetry of the images echoes that of the text.

“How long have you been on this train? You don’t know how long. Several hours, apparently. And then you understand: the train goes round the city in a ring, without ever approaching the city centre. You get used to seeing the same places: the happy island, the bridge over the field of reeds, the Palace of the Instant, the Valley of Peach Trees... However, what you see out of the window is different each time. The roads curve, objects are transformed, the city is multicoloured, the blue in the sky mixes with the green of the trees and the ochre of the soil. Red comes to the surface in the middle of the indigo asphalt pavement, yellow lightning tears across the black surfaces, delicate green shades are suddenly printed on a white façade... Everything swirls round. The train you are sitting in is a gigantic kaleidoscope moving round the city.”
